to strengthen academic exchange, showcase academic achievements, and promote academic innovation, the graduate academic forum organized by the academic department of the graduate student union of nanjing university medical school was officially held on june 9, 2022, at 9:00 in room 206 of the southeast building.
this academic forum attracted outstanding doctoral and master’s students from fields such as clinical medicine, basic medicine, and stomatology, demonstrating new medical methods, technologies, breakthroughs, and achievements in both basic and clinical medical research. as one of the series of activities celebrating nanjing university’s 120th anniversary, this event also demonstrated the research strength and academic innovation of nanjing university medical school and affiliated hospitals.
this academic forum activity consisted of several sessions, including online submission, defense, and commentary. first, the event collected innovative research results online from students throughout the school, which were independently reviewed by expert reviewers. second, the shortlisted students prepared posters based on their research results, and posted them in the school building for learning and communication. third, students who qualified for the defense presented their innovative progress and results at this offline forum. invited judges and guests for the defense and commentary session included zhang longjiang, wei jia, li kuanyu, yang zhongzhou, wu jinhui, li dongmei, and cai pingqiang.
the academic forum began at 9:00 on the morning of june 9, with ms. wang ani, the deputy secretary of the party committee of nanjing university medical school, presiding over the opening ceremony. professor jiang qing, the vice dean of the school, gave an opening remake, in which he expressed his recognition for students’ active participation in scientific research innovation and academic exchange. he hoped that students could strengthen their innovation awareness, ability, and spirit through this platform, and continue to achieve more innovations. he also expressed congratulations on the successful holding of the academic forum.
the presentation section of this event was divided into two halves, hosted by students xu dongge and yang lei respectively. in the presentations, the students introduced their own academic research, their research experience, and innovative achievements. the defending students demonstrated their solid knowledge foundation and excellent qualities through their rigorous and lively presentation, precise charts and data, and humble and composed attitude.
after each student’s presentation, the judges provided comprehensive evaluations and comments. they raised questions and offered feedback on the experimental design and results, and gave their encouragement to the defending students. through the academic discussion, students and teachers learned together, deepening their understanding of research topics and achieving the collision and extension of ideas.
finally, vice dean wang tingting summarized the forum, affirming the students’ active participation and brilliant performance. she also encouraged the students to continue to study and communicate actively, and to climb the peak of scientific research courageously. in the end, the award-winning students took photos with the guests, and the academic forum activity ended successfully.
