on the afternoon of april 4, 2023, the medical school of nanjing university hosted a lecture by professor ma daqing, director of the anesthesiology research center at the westminster hospital of imperial college london, fellow of the royal college of anesthesiologists (frca), and member of the european academy of sciences (mae). professor ma daqing is also the executive vice president of the association of british chinese professors (abcp). his lecture was titled “covid-19 disease, surgery and outcomes.”
vice dean wang hongwei of the medical school delivered a warm welcome speech welcoming professor ma daqing's visit before the lecture. in his speech, professor ma daqing introduced the profile, mission, and important role played by the association of british chinese professors (abcp) in the covid-19 pandemic. during the lecture, professor ma daqing discussed the causes of covid-19 infection and immune storms, as well as the protective effects of anesthetics and sedatives for critically ill patients with covid-19.
professor ma daqing's excellent speech sparked strong resonance and lively discussions among the teachers and students present. they actively asked questions and participated in the discussions, creating a lively atmosphere. this lecture enhanced the understanding of covid-19 and anesthetics among the teachers and students of the medical school and will also strengthen the exchange and cooperation between the medical communities of china and the uk.
