jianfeng gong earned his m.d. degree in general surgery from the school of medicine at nanjing university in 2005. he then pursued his postdoctoral research at jinling hospital from 2005 to 2008. from 2010 to 2011, he worked as a visiting scholar at the charite clinic of humboldt university. dr. gong was appointed as an associate professor at nanjing university in 2012, and was promoted to professor in 2021. his main research areas include the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (uc) and postoperative pouchitis, enhanced recovery after surgery (eras) protocol in colorectal surgery, and the mechanism of inflammation-related skeletal muscle wasting.
