dr. ding received his m.d and ph.d. degree in surgery (2006-2009) from nanjing university and university of pennsylvania. his doctoral research, conducted under the guidance of professor jieshou li, focused on intestinal barrier function. after completing his studies, dr. ding joined the research institute of general surgery at jinling hospital, affiliated hospital of medical school, nanjing university (eastern theater general hospital) as an associate chief physician in 2010. he was later appointed as an associate professor of surgery and postgraduate advisor at nanjing university in 2017. dr. ding’s research interests include abdominal trauma, surgical critical care, general surgery, and gut barrier function. he currently serves as the deputy director of the trauma program and surgical critical care at jinling hospital.
