dr. zhenji gan received his ph.d. degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the shanghai institutes for biological sciences, chinese academy of sciences, where he explored metabolic diseases under the supervision of dr. yong liu from 2003 to 2008. he then went on to pursue his postdoctoral research training from 2008 to 2013 in the areas of nuclear receptor signaling and energy metabolism at sanford-burnham medical research institute, under the guidance of dr. daniel kelly. in 2013, he joined the model animal research center (marc) of nanjing university as a principal investigator.
